MEF hosted a landmark community celebration on Friday, August 29, at Signal Mountain Middle/High School’s first home football game of the season. The evening marked multiple milestones, including the debut of the school’s new turf field, the introduction of the We are Signal Legacy Walk, and the uniting of students, families, and supporters from across all MEF schools.
The night began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:30 PM, where local elected officials and dignitaries, including School Board Member Ben Daugherty, Commissioner Chip Baker, Representative Michele Reneau, Senator Bo Watson, Mayor Weston Wamp, and Superintendent Justing Robetson, officially opened Signal Mountain Middle/High School’s new turf field.
At 6:45 PM, MEF launched the inaugural We are Signal Legacy Walk, a symbolic new tradition where Class of 2038 kindergarteners from Nolan and Thrasher Elementary joined Class of 2026 seniors from Signal Mountain Middle/High School to walk together across the field. The walk represents the passing of the torch of Signal spirit, from the youngest students just beginning their journey to seniors preparing to graduate. Afterward, the kindergarteners and seniors followed the Eagles football team onto the field, joining in the community celebration.
The celebration continued into the 7:00 PM kickoff, where families from all three MEF-supported schools came together for MEF Night at the Eagles football game. The event showcased the power of community partnership and highlighted MEF’s mission to invest in local schools, inspire whole-life success, and cultivate a thriving Signal Mountain community.
MEF Executive Director Hilarie Robison was thrilled to bring this dream to life. “The launch of this new tradition- the We are Signal Legacy Walk- has been years in the making, and we are thrilled to see it happen for our community! There is a unique and remarkable unity here on Signal, where our families and leaders continually step up to make a difference for our children. That’s what is reflected in this new tradition and the legacy it represents- our Signal spirit. What a great night and great place to be… We are Signal!”
